hi am posting for friend
just had baby (new years day), baby has slight tongue tie (not sure of anymore details yet) but I think the midwife thinks its nt severe enough to get snipped. are there any positions that would make feeding asier/less painful? ( not sure if feeding is more painful than it would normally be at this stage!)

Biological nurturing positions can be good - just lie well back til you're comfy, pop baby lying on top and let him latch himself. You will probably need to support the head a bit.

My ds had a tt that was snipped at 3 weeks, and biological nurturing was the only way he could feed without hurting me in the early days.

"slight" tongue tie is often used when people are referring to the appearance of a tie.

The appearance of a tie is irrelevant, it is the function that is the issue.

I would suggest she get a second opinion from somebody who knows what they are doing

Flipple and exaggerated latch are a couple of things worth googling.

Plenty of people looked at my daughters tie (obvious to me) in hospital ( The so called experts midwives doctors etc ) and denied anything was there and the latch was fine (it wasn't) it was only on my insistence and referral by my GP to a senior facial consultant that he said it was severe so he snipped my daughters tie (quick and easy procedure no fuss) good luck to your friend.

Oh and underarm football hold worked until snipped. Fine immediately afterwards in cradle hold
