My big chubby boy loves his milk!

Just an enquiry really! I had DS weighed on thursday (He's 11.5 months), and he seems to buck the trend regarding breast fed babies and weight gain. He weighed in at an impressive 28lb 14oz!!!! My health visitor is great and she is really pleased with him. I am realy careful with his food (no processed junk/refined rubbish), and my milk is his main drink (aside from water and very occasionally juice). My DD was a big baby (Tall, with chubby legs!), but she was lean in comparrison to DS. Has anyone else had similar weight gain with their breast fed baby?

i think if i had acrried on breastfeeding dd2 she would've been similar weight to your ds. she weighed 9lb at birth, at her 1 week weigh in weighed 9lb 2oz, by the time she was 2months old and i was giving up b.f she weighed over 14lb. she went onto formula, didnt have excessive amounts, didnt eat huge amounts (in fact had bad vomiting issues and couldnt keep stuff down) byt at a year old weighed over 30lb.

I had the same experience Mrsaek. My ds was 7lb 5oz when born, but has been packing on the weight ever since, and he is still breast fed now at over a year. I'm still waiting for that dip in weight gain that breast fed babies apparently have at about three months! Haven't had him weighed since his seven month check, as the act that he's in 2year old clothes at a year is good enough for me.

Glad to hear I'm not on my own! I've just had to buy 2-3 year old clothes for his birthday (5th Aug!!!). They're slightly too long on his legs, but fit him perfectly around his lovely tubby belly. He is such a happy baby, he loves his food and he looooovvvvvvveeeessss his milk. I expect by the time he's 10 I'll feel like I'm living in land of the giants!
