12 week old ebf dd who up till last night was starting to be a lovely sleeper, 7 and 8 hour stretches and only one feed in the night.
Until last night which was a feed athon of epic proportions! Fed on and off most of yesterday afternoon and then roughly every 1-1.5 hours from bedtime to this morning.
I know it's the 12 week growth spurt and you're all going to tell me it will pass in a couple of days...aren't you...please! Xmas Blush

It will pass, everything does!

Just wait for the 4 month sleep regression....

thekatsatonthematt · 11/12/2013 09:37

Yep, then you'll get lulled into a false sense of security before the next growth spurt. Or snuffly cold. Or teething. Xmas Grin

Penano · 11/12/2013 09:38

It will! Envious of your 7-8 hr stretches & hopeful that my 4wk old will take note! If it helps at all I had totally forgotten about growth spurts & your post reminded me!

SecondStarToTheRight · 11/12/2013 09:39

Sorry, that sounds too flippant.

It will pass, it will get better.
The next hurdle will be a sleep regression at about 4 months - that is really hard, but again, it will pass.

I found it helped to be friends with people with babies of similar ages on Facebook - it's amazing who is up in the middle of the night, you can have some great conversations via messaging while bf'ing at 2 am! And it helps you feel that you are not alone

rosiedays · 11/12/2013 09:54

It does pass and gets easier. My dd now holds my boob like a bottle and yums while she feeds. It's the most beautiful thing to watch. Well worth all the growth spirt pain. Flowers

Creamtea1 · 11/12/2013 10:14

Ah Rosie that is so cute! Like you said they are of course worth it.
And secondstar I didn't read your post as flippant don't worry Smile it definetly helps to chat with others in the same situation, hence the post here - in RL I haven't got anyone to chat to really as all my friends kids are older.
They do love to lull you in don't they...my boobs had also just settled down nicely and weren't getting huge and hard anymore - well after last night that will be back again no doubt! Teething I think is on the way to as she is very dribbly and her hand is constantly in her mouth, cheeks are a bit red too. It was actually like she was snacking last night as even though she was up so frequently she was only feeding for 5 mins or so then wanting to go back to sleep.
And penano your longer stretches will come! Stick with it
Oh and to top it all off its injections tomorrow Confused

Creamtea do you Co sleep?
Saved my sanity co sleeping. (And i just love cuddling my yummy baby all night) she curls up under my arm like a little bird then squeaks if she wants boob. I may be awake during the night but my feet never touch the floor. :)

Creamtea1 · 11/12/2013 15:42

Rosie yes - well, I do after her first stretch of sleep - so previously she would come in with me around 3am but last night it was 11pm. She has been quite happy today BUT still feeding a lot - lots of short feeds rather than long ones and has barely had an hours sleep in total spread over 3 naps so far. So will see what tonight brings!

To update anyone interested - last night was slightly better with approx 2-2.5 hourly intervals

Well she's just doing her job. Needs more milk making so tells your boobs to buck up. They just take a couple of days to realise Grin

I miss breastfeeding sometimes. They're proper funny little things babies.

rosiedays · 12/12/2013 14:14

That's great cream tea. Glad you got some rest. Dd is nearly 5 months now and i can literally feed in my sleep. It's So worth it. Flowers
