Anywhere between 9 and 15. She's still up three/four times a night for a feed.

troublegirl · 02/12/2013 20:28

My dd2 is 4 months old and has 5 feeds during the day and 1 overnight. I don't know why anyone would bf their baby 17 times a day, that seems crazy!! By 6 months dd1 was on 4 feeds a day and 1 overnight and by 7 months she was on 3 feeds during the day - she quickly dropped her mid morning feed when she started eating more.

Mine is 6.5m and started having solids about 3 weeks ago. He tends to have 4 or 5 daytime feeds and then anywhere between 1 and 3 nighttime ones. When solids really kick in my older one went to mid morning and mid afternoon only ( and and wake up and bedtime and one in the night) I think that was at 8 months. ish.

TodgerDodger · 02/12/2013 21:18

At 6 months, mine fed every 1-2 hours. Day and night.

DS didn't want solids until 10.5 months, even though we tried every mealtime, so that probably explains the constant feeding. It doesn't explain why he still feeds every 3 hours at nearly 2 years old though

Quinandthem · 02/12/2013 21:27

My 20wk old dd normally has 6 or 7 feeds a 24hr period.

During the day they are every 3 hours depending on what we're doing and naps.

muddylettuce · 02/12/2013 21:39

6, every three hours, like clockwork and has done since she was 6 weeks old. Luckily for me she sleeps through unless she's unwell or teething in which case she might get a sneaky 7th feed. X

Every 2-3 hours day and night. Can I ask those who are having fewer and/or sleeping through are your babies still breastfeeding on demand or have you done some gentle scheduling?

TodgerDodger · 02/12/2013 21:59

On demand here.

RTjoke · 02/12/2013 22:04

6.5 months here.
7am BF
8am solid breakfast (usually porridge)
11am BF
Noon solid lunch
3pm BF
5pm solid dinner
6pm BF
7pm formula top up
80% of time he then sleeps 7pm-6.30am.

It sounds a rigid schedule but he fell into it pretty easily after I gently encouraged him to stretch the time between feeds at around 5 months.

My dd is only 5 months so only having little tastes of things. The 10 feeds a day don't bother me as she's my only one and she's growing like a weed, I do sometimes wonder whether it's just luck of the draw or something I've caused through inexperience. Specifically my being hyper sensitive to crying and letting her use me as a dummy! Hopefully she'll feel a bit more satisfied when she's on solids.

loveolives · 03/12/2013 14:17

At 6 months about 6-8 5 minute feeds
