top soaked in breastmilk - any ideas?

My let-down seems to be more substantial than expected and is soaking pads and clothing. I'll get some breast shells when I can get out to the shops. Any ideas until then?

Is it just your let down that us causing problems or are you leaking constantly?

I had this problem with my first (it's not so bad with my dd). Anyway breast shells will work but do you have a pump? I used to try to feed on one side and pump the other at the same time. That way pumping is efficient too. I am often dripping in milk...

Is it the other side soaking you while you feed? I used to fold a flannel up inside my bra on the side I wasn't feeding on. Also used to put my finger over my nipple until the letdown stopped on that side just to stem the flow.
I think I could have fed the whole street!
Lasinoh pads I found were the best for soaking up lots of milk and keeping me dry at night. Took me ages to discover them.

I actually pinned folded flannels inside my nightie at one point. I also slept on a towel in bed. Luckily the milk floods only lasted a few days and I was soon able to cope with pads and a nursing bra under my nightie like a semi normal person!

I vaguely remember just holding a jug under my nipple at one point, while ds fed from the other side. Also folded up towel while feeding.

Lansinoh breast pads soak up around 5 billion times more than the next best, so get some of them too!

it's just let down, and currently one side only.
DD2 is 10 days old and we and have had to mix feed (jaundice). Today is the first I''ve BF only since my milk came in so supply has not settled yet. I do have a pump but not enough hands!
I have washable pads only (never needed even those with DD1) and wouldn't be able to get anything else sooner than shells.
I'll be getting some flannels out for tonight then, thanks for your suggestions.

If you don't mind pming me your address (or any a address you can collect from) I'll post you some shells - I never got on with them but you might.

I found the washables not quite up to the absorbancy of the disposibles. I have also used bibs and muslins scrunched up for the let down on the other side when I couldn't grab a breast pad quick enough.
