Was thinking about friend who is vegan - they cant eat milk products but would they be able to eat products from human milk. Has anyone ever heard of butter or cheese etc made from human milk. Also could help kids who are allergic to other milk types.

I know very strange but my curiosity got the better of me

Wooo, werid, I was wondering the same thing only yyesterday. Not the vegan friend bit but the can you make butter etc from human milk. might be tempted to try once I'm expressing and weaning boy. Mind you, the one time I made butter at home from cows milk it tok sooooooo long shaking teh damm bottle i was bored to tears. I was only 10 at teh time tho, so it may not have been all that long.

In the book "Fresh Milk" it describes making and eating ice cream made from human milk.

You could make butter or cheese from human milk but why would you want to? Human milk is just meant for the baby or child it is produced for - a vegan wouldn't want it, any more than they would want to drink the milk that was intended for a baby cow.

Yes the MNer who made the breastmilk soap had a huge supply of expressed milk - more than she could ever have fed her children. The soap was very nice (we still have the scraggy end bit of ours left upstairs )
