Can my 8 mo have a snack of whole cows milk?

She is EBF and I'm back at work in a week. She can go all day without milk but still would like a small feed at 3.30/4. I've expressed this for the last few days and she has 1/2oz. It just seems to take the edge of for her.

I'm not going to express at work so need to drop this feed. Would you give formula or cows milk in her cup?

I should add she still feeds 6.30pm 10pm 2am and 6am.

I believe that although she could have cows' milk in cooking now, she shouldn't drink it until 12mo. I would give formula.

Can I make up small quantities easily enough?

I would probably give cows milk or water and a solid snack. I believe the main reason cows milk shouldn't be the main drink until a year old is that it is too low in iron and lacks other nutrients babies' need. I vaguely seem to remember something about it being too high in salt too, but I may be imagining that.

Either way, I can't see any possible reason not to give an oz or two of cows milk each day if breastmilk is still the main source of milk/fluids.

I would give cow's milk as a drink at 8 months.

If she's eating well in the day it would an idea to drop at least one of those night feeds.

Well ive decided to give a solid snack. I'd love to drop a night feed. Easier said than done!
