my dd pinches me and its driving me insane!

My dd is 7months old, we are slowly introducing solids so she is still bf about 4-5 times a day. In the afternoon and evening before bed when I feed her she "needs" to pinch me and will not bf unless she is doing so. But it hurts so much and I get frustrated at her and have to put her down and walk away. I really want to continue so how can I get her to stop?
I've cut her nails and she refuses to wear her mittens while feeding.
Help please

My dd did this and I moved her hand so that she could hold my earlobe instead. We had some success with this, others have had some success with bfing necklaces.

I think my dd went through a phase of this and scratching. I don't remember how long it lasted, but she stopped eventually. Not nice though, not a clue why they do it.

I've got a scratcher and she pinches my chin too. I've found that a comforter toy in her hand has some success in distracting her hands.

Have you tried giving her a soft toy to hold while feeding? I did this with dd when she was going through that phase. It worked well and it also very conveniently became her 'lovey' that she now takes to bed with her.

it's never too early to start teaching nursing manners.

I used to keep myself covered as much as possible as that stopped the pinching a bit. if they still did it I would hold their hand.
if they struggled with that or carried on then the feed ended.

My dd has a comforter that she constantly fiddles with during feeding, She would grapple me otherwise which was not helpful!

I sympathise, my DD2 scratches my boob. I have exzema (sp) on my breasts also had it with DD1 (Doc said it's quite common with bf mothers) DD2 seems to find the most irritated raised sore part and scratches at it. If I try to stop her, she wakes right up and grumbles. I try grabbing her hand, covering up and none of it works. Some nights when I want her to go to sleep quickly I just grit my teeth, others I battle with her.

Google Mama Jewels nursing necklaces. Mine is a godsend, he grips and bites that instead.

I don't think a necklace would work, because of the position I feed her she is no where near my neckline. I will try a small teddy next feed.

DS is the same age and he starts pinching me or publicly undressing me unless distracted!

We have success with:

• singing nursery rhymes while making eye contact
• wearing drapey scarves he can fiddle with
• letting him put his hand in my mouth (his absolute fave, but I'm not keen to encourage so this is a last resort!)

Toys don't work for us as he just throws them, my friend has an awesome nursing necklace and I'm tempted to get one too (it doesn't matter if the feeding position is not bear the neckline, they are designed to be within reach - my friend only wears hers for feeding)

My dd does this to me too. I thought I was the only one this happened to. My dd pinches me on my arms, neck, chin, whatever she can. It's so annoying. I feel your pain, literally lol

I'm normally totally baby-led, anti cry it out etc, but I had a massive problem with dd2 scratching my boob as she drank. I was using breast pads to absorb the blood and was starting to scar - it really was that bad. I resorted to restraining her hand so she couldn't. she cried, got upset, refused to continue feeding, but thank god I came through the other side in about a week and never looked back. by all means try less drastic encouragement etc, but that can be your last resort!
