Formula Prep - keeping bottles of cooled boiled water at room temp

Is it really bad to sterilise the bottles, etc pour in the required boiled water, seal them and then NOT put them in the fridge?? I then just add the milk powder (Cow & Gate Premium) and serve 'cause I prefer to give my DD the milk at room temp, it's also how I give it when out and about.

Did this with DS and didn't have any probs but the instruction say they're supposed to be mixed and stored in the fridge and I'm supposed to use the readymade stuff when out.

Like you, did this with my children and had no problems whatsoever. Am deeply unconvinced by the new advice, given that in quite a few Western countries the advice is turning away from sterilising at all, and has been the case for several years.

Room temperature ,because i didn't want to keep heating the milk.

I did exactly the same as you. Boiled water in sterilised bottles stored at room temperature then mixed with the formula.
Can't see the problem with water at room temperature and intend to do the same for number3. Didn't know it was 'advised' to keep it in the fridge but it is much easier not . (I did for the very first few weeks as i ddin't know it was safe enough to leave the water out)

i think your better off keeping just the water then adding the powder later as it wont breed bacteria as fast as milk will. think they only say to do the other way as it dissolves quicker!

id just keep doing what you'r doing!

I did the same as you guys are all doing/have all done.
I spoke to the Aptamil help line people about it. The lady there told me it was absolutely fine but just to make sure you do shake the bottle extra carefully as it will be slightly more difficult for the powder to disolve.

Its fine to do it like that. And its fine to use unsterilised bottles and tap water, too. .

definitely fine - and funnily enough at 50p a carton no wonder they are now recommending to use ready to serve milk. Suspicious, moi?

and as for sterilising - what a waste of time and money and kitchen space! Avent have even brought out one for £60 which tells you "sterilised time left"... what is going on out there?

that's how we did dd1s bottles and now dd2s as she is formula feeding now at 7 months.

if you have a dishwasher, there's no need to sterilise.

That's exactly what I do - saves time on having to heat the milk up and means that you can give the milk to them straightaway, rather endure a screaming fit!! Also, makes it easier when you're out - I premeasure the formula in to pots and use those and there's no need to put the bottles in a cooler bag.

I do sterilise, as dd is only 5 months, but getting a bit laxer about it all, as she puts everything in to her mouth, anyway!!

I also use the Cow and Gate Premium and hadn't realised the instructions said to refrigerate the water!!! I just listened to my SIL who's bottle fed 2 babies!!
