I think feeding in a toilet is inappropriate, other than that pretty much everywhere is fair game :)

comewinewithmoi · 24/10/2013 13:51

Baby's hungry, feed baby. ie anywhere.

comewinewithmoi · 24/10/2013 13:52

Oh yes not in the toilet , that's gross

imtheonlyone · 24/10/2013 13:54

I fed my babies when they were hungry! Everywhere and anywhere - just as you would if they were bottle fed. I anyone had tried to stop me, they would soon have regretted doing so! I remember once pulling up on the hard shoulder of the motorway to get my baby out and feed him - we had been sat in a queue for 45 minutes that hadn't moved and the poor little thin was screaming his head off! To me, that was an emergency!

mrsmartin1984 · 24/10/2013 13:55

Not in the loos. Because I wouldn't eat there. Everywhere else is fine.

SauvignonBlanche · 24/10/2013 13:56

Is appropriate - everywhere except a toilet
Isn't appropriate - see above.

SauvignonBlanche · 24/10/2013 13:57

I promise you that you'll get less self conscious with practice, good luck! Flowers

I've fed in toilets too in the early days! (Baby only 3 months now) now feed anywhere except mass, went to mass at weekend and brought bottle of ebm, the little bugger wouldn't take it as it was too cold so I left and fed in car, couldn't do it in the church!!

dyslexicdespot · 24/10/2013 14:07

As everyone else has said-I have feed DS wherever we happen to be when he is hungry-in font of my supervisors, on the tube, in front of family/friends, restaurants and so on and so forth.

No one has ever said anything negative ( aside from a doctor in an infant feeding clinic-fucker!

Youarejustwordsonascreenpeople · 24/10/2013 14:12

Any where and everywhere with my three including church, they are the very essence of Gods children. Even walked up to the alter, feeding, to do a reading.

rockyroadahead · 24/10/2013 14:13

Thanx all I feel bit better now ... I think coz we r still practising and over coming obsticals such as latch on which we have got right but some time when she is really hungry she gets a bit frantic and confused and the thought of faffing about trying to get her on properly in s busy cafe freaked me.out a tiny bit ..... Just to clarify it wasn't a toilet I fed in as such just had a baby changer sink and chair room ..

It can be stressful until you get the hang of it!

NoComet · 24/10/2013 14:32

DD2 absolutely anywhere including in the middle of M&S (realising there was no cafe)and in a church funeral service.

DD1 often got fed in the car in the car park as she didn't actually like BFing at all.

She squirmed and looked round at the slightest distraction.
In a cafe, she'd try and kick things off the table to make sure everyone was looking at me make a hash of it.

She was mixed fed, she knew bottles existed, she knew I didn't have to BF her and she made her feelings on the subject very clear.

rosiedays · 24/10/2013 14:58

The only place I would feed and have read (on here) that It's inappropriate is the swimming pool. toilets (nice clean ones) were my savoir in the early days as i really struggled with a tt baby who fussed a lot and I needed to go full top off (if it fell and annoyed her it was toe curling start again time) I wouldn't feed in toilets now though as it's not necessary. Dd 3 months now and I'll feed anywhere but the car is still fav when out. (She/i like peace and quiet )

rosiedays · 24/10/2013 15:01

Grr would in first line should have been wouldn't! ! Lol I'm feeding :)

BerstieSpotts · 24/10/2013 15:05

I have fed in toilets - I think the point posters are making is you shouldn't feel you have to feed in a toilet.

Anywhere that you can bring the baby, you are allowed to breastfeed. It's as simple as that - it's even backed up in law in England, Wales and Scotland :)

hettienne · 24/10/2013 15:06

Anywhere a baby can be, they can be breastfed basically.

Though personally I wouldn't in a public toilet or swimming pool.

comedaygoday · 24/10/2013 15:08

Anywhere the baby or child needs to be fed. I am still BFing DS1 (20 months) and BFed DS 1 until 16 months and DS2 until 20 months. I have fed in churches, in a meeting with a bank manager, in a workhouse, by the checkout in a supermarket, as well as the usual cafes and toddler groups.

smearedinfood · 24/10/2013 15:09

I wouldn't on a ski field, that's just me though.

ShatnersEmptyCatacomb · 24/10/2013 15:11

I think you can in any of the places it would be appropriate to feed a baby by any method. So not in a toilet, a swimming pool, a board meeting, in court...

rosiedays · 24/10/2013 15:14

Grr would in first line should have been wouldn't! ! Lol I'm feeding :)

rosiedays · 24/10/2013 15:49

Berstie... I totally agree that no-one should feel they Have to feed in the toilet but sometimes it really was the most appropriate and easiest place. Behind a closed door i could do what i needed and not get flustered, stay calm and take my time and cry where no one could see me I don't think it should an off limits place per say PProvided it's clean of course.

BerstieSpotts · 24/10/2013 16:18

That's what I said :)

soupmaker · 24/10/2013 17:24

I think it depends. My DD1 could be really fussy so I would find quiet corners to feed her so that I could be relaxed without an audience. DD2 feeds everywhere I go. My DD2 is 3 mo like yours OP. I have fed at the swimming pool but not in it. I don't feed in toilets as I wouldn't eat in one.
