How often did your bf lo pooh? Dd2 hasn't poohed for 9 days!

Posted on this subject before but dd2 is now poohing even less! In the last month it has gone from every 3 days to 5 and now she hasn't poohed for 9 days.

I rang my hv and she said that some bf babies can go up to a fortnight! Anyone got experience of this?

My hv said that dd2 is just being very efficient at using every scrap of my milk.

Dd2 is nearly 21 weeks and is exclusively bf, doing loads of wet nappies and is fine in herself, she is not putting weight on all that quickly but the hv isn't concerned as this is normal for bf babies. Dd2 ws 9lb at birth and was 14lb when I got her weighed a couple of weeks ago.

I thought bf babies poohed regularly - anyone else got a non-pooher? Is it really O.K. to go a fortnight?

It's fine to go a fortnight. If your DD2 was a few weeks old, this would be indicative of a problem, but at her age, rare poos are fine.

My DS2 was like this. And when he went, it wasn't even that much poo. Enjoy it while it lasts - introducing solids will mean poos are much more disgusting and happen much more often.

Yep. Dd held on to hers for ages and then - blimey!

ds was an infrequent poo-er until we started solids. a fortnight was the longest i let him go - induced poo with dilute orange juice at this point.

nqc - don't agree about solids poos being worse - we use washable nappies, and solid poos peel off much more easily! although the first week of solids was horrid - liquid poos with bits it - bleurgh!

We've had plenty of non-poo phases. Just try to enjoy it

Blimmin heck - she has poohed!

I should have been careful what I wished for! How is it possible for so much to come out of someone so small?

No problems then - will enjoy infrequent poohing for the next month or so until I wean dd2 - assuming a bit of fibre will make all of the difference!

Both mine would poo only every 10 - 14 days!
(but we were always reluctant to go far when poo day was looming!)

Dd used to go about 5 times a day as a newborn. She's been a once-a-week gal since the age of about 8 weeks. It's like having a timebomb in a babygro.
