hi...my lo is 9 week old at the minute he feeds roughley every three hours. He's having much longer periods of activity and therefore shorter naps. I wondered whether this three hour cycle will begin to extend as he gets older? will he go to four hour gaps between feeds or will he begin to stop napping between some of his feeds and if that is the case what sort of age. sorry if this sounds like a dumb question I'm a new mum and don't really have anyone else to ask. thanks Smile

Hi there
My LO is now 15 wks and is still feeding every 2 hrs. That has not changed since birth and I'm not expecting it to now.. She takes 4/5oz every 2 hrs and if I try to give her more to last longer, she just pukes it up. Her tummy obviously can't fit any more than 5oz!
I think it's normal for babies to stick to their routine. My friend said her LO never had more than 4oz at a time. Bring on weaning LOL!

Hi ninage

My dd is 15 weeks and is only now starting to go 4 hours but like your little one she was 2/3 hours up until about 10 weeks I think they take growth spurts and look for a bit more my dd is still only taking between 5& 6 ounces now, they only have little tummies, and then they can go a bit longer but it's not something you can make them change to, if that makes sense, they usually adapt to their own little routine, and they let you know when they're hungry, and it's not one bit dumb to ask such questions, this is my 3rd dd and I still have questions!!!

Frankly ;-)

hiya...thanks.

I wasn't hoping he would go to 4 hr intervals I just wondered if that's what they progress to naturally. just because he's having more periods of activity I wondered if he would have enough time for naps! but I guess not! I had visions of him being constantly over tired which isn't pleasant don't think the neighbours could take it Wink

tbh I quite like he's every three hrs because on odd days when he doesn't eg when he's been a bit off from injections or his naps have gone on a bit longer we don't get the 6hrs at night which he started to do at 7weeks. I asked the hv the first morning after as I was worried he was sick but she thought it was because he has so much in the day which at the min is 6oz. so I think I would like it to stay that way if poss. I've got used to not feeling like a zombie...bet it will all change again when teething starts Grin
