Do babies give up night feeds on their own?

Just that really.
I've always been babyled and we're down to 2-3 breastfeeds a day, bedtime and one in the night. Occasionally one in the morning too. Will she drop the night one of her own accord in time, do you think? Or will I have to refuse her it at some point?
I know all babies are different, I was wondering about people's experiences.
I work night shifts sometimes so it is tricky. She seems to cope though, with her dad and cuddles, on those nights.
I would really love a night to myself but I feel guilty enough about the night shifts so can't seem to allow myself this.
She is 12 months old.

ds3 was about 2ish

My DD probably would have BF'd forever, I decided to stop when she was 13 months as I was pregnant again and wasn't feeling too well.

Anyway - she did continue to wake up in the night (and still does at 2.5 years!) but instead of nursing her I rocked her/cuddled her etc to help her go back to sleep and it was actually very painless - I was dreading it as thought she'd not be happy about it all.
I was down just to a bedtime and a night time feed at this point though and stopped both at the same time, so a bit different to your situation.

I imagine most children will wean themselves eventually but I expect it could take some time as I think waking up in the night and expecting a feed might become a bit of a habit rather than a need.

As your DD is ok when you're working nights, I think if you wanted to, you could withdraw the night feed without her being too upset about it, but obviously only if you feel happy about it. Good luck and don't feel guilty!

Don't know! Mine is 22 months still feeding every 1-2 hours all night! Still waiting to find out!

Neither of mine stopped of their own accord.

i'm sure they would eventually maw.... even it meant waiting til they weaned from the breast.
appreciate that could be many years though Grin

Well, I went cold turkey at night with ds1 at age 3.5years. He didn't wean of his own accord in the day either. I told him enough was enough at 7yo. I was done waiting for him!!
