Do I need to pump if away from 6 mo for 8 hrs?

Title says it all - am leaving 6 mo for day - she'll be on expressed milk. Do I need to pump to keep my supply up (I'll miss 3 or 4 feeds) or can I just hand express in the loo to relieve full breasts? I'd rather not have to pump if possible as the logistics of the day will make that pretty challenging...

By 6 months I would have thought your supply would be pretty established and one day shouldn't affect that. Never tried it myself though as the LOs wouldn't take bottles....

Thanks RJandA. My supply feels established at this point (breasts rarely feel full or empty), but I'm wary of messing things up or giving myself problems as in the early days we had all sorts of bf issues and I had mastitis twice.

I left dd for 7 hours when she was 7 months old. I didn't pump but did feel very ready to feed her by the time I got back. She would normally have fed twice during that time. No supply issues afterwards though.
Have no experience with mastitis though so can't advise on that.
