I have breast fed my 10 month old DS, and he has never taken formula. In the last couple of weeks i can see my supply has really diminished, so i think it's time to stop beast feeding, but my son just won't take anything else. He has always been a big fan of breast feding. In the early days i think a lot iof feeds were comfort ones and i also now feed him to sleep, which still works but the amount of milk is definitely down. I have tried bottle, cup, spoon and straw, but he won't even have one gulp and gets distressed. I can't get any amount by pumping so formula is the only option. Please help me! I stopped breast feeding my DD at about 9 months and it was tricky but nowhere near this hard!

Have you tried the 4M Tommee Tippee cups with the hard spout? Its all my daughter would accept for a while until she magically fell passionately in love with her C2N bottles. (Only if they contain EBM though!)
Mine was £1 from Aldi, was a bit messy until she learnt to control the cup!

I'm in the same boat Torches. I have started to put the cup on his high chair at each meal so he gets used to seeing it. He bites the spout now.

I've got a good supply but desperately need sleep as my boy still feeds every 2 hours day & night.

Bf lady suggested taking the lid off the cup & give him water that way.

Also if you are worried about his fluid intake, give him watery foods like Mellon, cereals with lots of formula in.

All the best.

Until quite recently, DS2, 11mo, could only drink water out of an open-topped cup. We started with a Doidy cup but he quickly progressed to drinking out of any beaker. He has also just got the hang of a straw in the last two or three weeks, so it is worth keeping trying different things if you want to.

Do you mind me asking why you are worried your supply has reduced? It would normally be pretty well established by 10mo. Although I can certainly understand wanting to have him drink from something else, anyway.

Have you tried a doidy cup? My DD couldn't figure out what to do with a bottle, but at about 4 months my DH got her to drink from the doidy. Also, have someone else try it rather than you. Babies are smart and many won't bother with the effort of a bottle or cup if the source is right there...
