Help.

I've got a 4 day old DS who has not stopped BF since he arrived.....I was still BF my three year old until he arrived so plenty of milk. He is getting loads of very wet nappies and BF baby poos and I'm not sore so I'm happy with his latch and my supply.

The last three nights he has not been off the breast at all. If he goes to my other half he screams +++ until I plant him back on the breast. I am surviving on 2 hours sleep a day and am exhausted and my other half is back at work on Thursday.

I am missing my DD. I always got up at night with her, now can't. I miss it being just the three of us.

As well as the night he spent from 13.00 until 8pm on the breast yesterday also.

I am desperate for sleep and to spend time with my DD without a baby on my breast.

I've tried swaddling and co sleeping-as soon as the boob falls out of his mouth he screams. Plus I'm paranoid about squashing him and SIDs.

Any suggestions???? What about a dummy?

You poor thing. It's so hard. What does your MW say? Could you call a BF helpline for advice?

i'd think that he can't be getting a feed all of the time that he's on the breast so perhaps a dummy might give you a break and allow your partner some time to hold him.

Sounds as it is a comfort things as well and having a little slurp when he feels like it. Yes I would try a dummy as if you carry on then it will get worse, Maybe try detaching or delatching for 10 mins / 15 mins/ 30 mins at a time or using a dummy and you holding him to start off with . Shove a muslin or wear dh tee shirt so it gets your smell on it then get dh to wear it and try with a dummy.
It does get easier I used to read play with my toddler when bf and at times I was stuck on the sofa for an hour ...the tv was also my friend !

Have you tried a really close sling eg Close Caboo, stretchy or Moby? It might give him the comfort of being close to you without actually needing boob in?

I would try a dummy. There are different shape ones so if he won't take one kind, try a different one.
Dummy's helped me sooth my lo when I stopped bf - worked a treat.
Good luck. X
