supermarket trolleys are just too tempting. help!

Ds 14 months mostly feeds at home but as soon as i put him in a supermarket trolley he turns into some kind of boob grabbing demon. I am 5' 2 so my chest is right by his face and its just too much for the poor boy. He starts creating and grabbing my clothes, pulling my top down.

how can I get round the shop without flashing people?

Maybe invest in one of these? Seriously though....I would wear a jacket that zipped up to my neck and give him a snack to eat as he went around.

I always give a snack on the way there (incase anyone judges me for letting him in in the supermarket).

I have exactly this problem- my DS is 15 mo. The only thing I do is to give him rice cakes (which works for about 20mins, then the grabbing and crying starts again). Also, I think it's getting a bit better as he gets older, and if I'm in a big Tesco or similar I often find a £1 toy near the start of the shop which sometimes fascinates him for a little while. It's a shame because he loves going to the supermarket with Dad/GPs but the lure of boob is too much sometimes when I take him!

I'd save the snack and give it in the supermarket for sure!

My DD did this and I was so tempted to just get my boob out and feed her in the trolley. However, we settled for me carrying her on my hip and nursing, or using the carrier.

I'm guessing you don't actually want to nurse him though, so are wanting ways round it? If so, I'd vote for snack or other drink too, who cares about judgeyness?

So glad I'm not alone with this problem. this is why I love mumsnet.

I will save the snack and try the toy ideas. I gave him the cheese to chew yesterday and he bit a hole right through the packet.
