Stopping BF - how long till your milk dries up?

I've switched DD2 ( 8 months) onto formula in the day now as I'm going back to work, but I still breast feed during the night (because it's just so much easier). My boobs seem to have adjusted ok as I've done it slowly over the last 2 months.

But she hasn't fed since 1am last night on one side and since 4am the night before on the other side. Is this too infrequent? Will my body stop making milk if it carries on like this? I don't feel engorged at all, which is why I'm worried.

I could still express small amounts of milk 12 months after stopping bf. But I guess an actual supply would depend on individual. At a feed one side per night, I would guess your supply will stop. Maybe one feed each side would be ok, or bedtime feed and overnight feed... but it depends on your hormones, so might be hard to predict.

Thanks Jenny. I'll see how we go!
