smelly poo in bf baby

My 9 week old really struggles with wind and recently has learnt to really fart well (i know that sounds strange)! This has become especially noticeable since i started him on colief as i think he has struggled to digest the milk.
he has always struggled to poo and strains and wriggles for hours at a time before producing a little squit. In the last few days he produces better poos but with the same straining etc, but they really stink. Not the normal sweet bf poo smell. His farts are also very stinky. Any ideas why this is? Is it normal?
Thanks x

Not sure if it is normal. How often does he poo? I found that when my dd got to the point where she was pooing less often her trumps were really smelly. How's his feeding?

Feeds well. Good latch. He is greedy and guzzles which doesn't help with the wind

Have you spoken to a BFC? The helpline numbers are here, towards the bottom of the page. She might be able to shed some light on it.

Also, has he ever been checked for tongue tie? The guzzling and the wind could be signs of tt.

It might also be worth keeping a food diary too. Food intolerances in bf babies aren't common but can affect their digestive system. There more info on kellymom and on allergy uk Smile

meme I'd ask MNHQ to move this to the breast/bottle section too. You might get a few more posters Smile

We're going to move this to Breast and Bottlefeeding!
