The joys of breast feeding a toddler

I am so pleased to have a nursing relationship with my 17 month old son. What do you love/have you learnt about nursing a toddler?

Gymnurstics is pretty funny. I never knew a baby could nurse upside down. I love how he can be so quiet and milk drunk after tearing around the house at full speed. He made his little approval noise after feeding when he woke up yesterday morning.

A round of applause and excited yelps when you take your bra off for bed isn't from the OH, it's from the baby/toddler Hmm

Standing next to the bed after taking your bra off isn't meant as an invitation for a bf but baby takes it as such (DD4's 11m but pretends she's 3y Hmm again)

How quickly it can turn a banged head/grazed knee from the end of the world to forgotten completely. Even works for arthritis :-O

Toddler prescribing 'Bah' for younger siblings when they fuss/cry. DD1 still does it and she's 7.5y

DD is 2.2 and I'm torn between loving watching her fall asleep on the boob and wishing she'd think about self-weaning.

She is very generous and likes to share "nahs" with her favourite toys. She was making us laugh so much yesterday, holding a little plastic monkey up and saying "Nahs for Monkey?" then presenting the monkey to my breast saying "Yum yum tasty milk for monkey" and making little slurping sounds!

I was just going to say when they breastfeed their own toys :o

I was once feeding dd while dh was reading ds a book about wild animals. He was explaining what a mammal was and said they get milk from their mummies, like . She pulled off and said crossly "I am not a mammal" then carried on feeding :o
