Evening bottle and up all night with wind

Hi, DH gives 14wk old DS a bottle of formula at bed time and although he does wind him, often he has been up for hours with wind afterwards. Sometimes he wakes up at around 5am screaming, last night he was up from 1am.

Any tips? Is there a way to hold the bottle DH isn't 'getting'? I can't do this much longer, giving him a bottle was supposed to make life easier!

Could you ask your health visitor if any tips :) My little one had terrible colic so had to give him gripe water after bottle feeds to get his wind up as cooled boiled water didn't work

Hi, thanks, we did give gripe water eventually, maybe we need to give it straight after the bottle

Do you BFed otherwise? Could it be the milk making him windy?

Yes he's bf apart from that bottle, I suspect the milk is not agreeing with him. We started off with hipp organic, then changed to aptamil to see if it made a difference, sadly it doesn't seem to have improved

It can be the way little one tries to take from a bottle if breastfed rather than the milk I was told to try different bottles until found one which didn't give him as much wind but remained having to use gripe water too unfortunately

Cows milk proteins make DD massively windy and unsettled. It's more common than I thought. Maybe try expressed milk in a bottle and see if you have the same issues.

There are also soya formula alternatives on the market but best seeking advice before using them as do have pros and cons
