Bottle fed 2 year old trying to breastfeed

My ds is just turned two he was formula fed from 6days old (wouldn't latch and was really struggling to bf) he weaned himself off his bottles at 1 and refused them, he just has one bottle of cows milk at bedtime. He's never had a dummy.
Yesterday he hurt his foot and its sore today, he was crying earlier and I picked him up for a big snuggly cuddle, laid across my arms like a little baby, he snuggles into my breast like he was tired but I didn't realise he was trying to suckle till he bit me.
Why is he trying to do this now? He was only breastfeed for six days so I wouldn't have thought he would associate it with comfort now two years later?
I've now got a confused mil and a wet patch onto top.

My friend's 14 month old did this after we went on holiday and he kept seeing me breastfeed DD! He was also formula fed from early on (4/5 days old) He did it for a couple of days, especially at night when he would try and pull her top down, and then stopped.

Know this doesn't answer you question but wanted you to know you are not alone!

Does he hang out with any BFers? DD was weaned at 1 but would try every now and again when she had seen her cousin BF.
