5month old feeding more at night than day...

My 5month old ds has a reduced appetite during the day. For example, today he had a feed 7.30am (4ozs) but didnt have another feed until 6pm. This has gone on for about 3 weeks but the gap between day time feeds has increased. On Sunday he went from 3.30am-3.30pm without a feed. He would have a 3hourly feed from around 6pm until 5am occassionaly but mostly 2am. He is ff and finishes off his 6oz bottle at night. I know he is hungry at night because he wakes up crying and promptly falls asleep when he has finished the bottle.

I have started weaning him. He has a few spoons of baby cereal in the morning. He is also drinking water from a sippy cup. (i think he has taken to the sippy cup because he likes the hardness against his gums).

I had him weighed last week and is following the curve at the 50 centile. He has been on the 50th centile since birth.

Is this a phase he is going through or will I need to shift is pattern of feeding? If so how do I do this?

Thanks zoesmum for your reply. DS must have got bored of worrying me as he had finished 4 bottles today. Im not sure what happened there.
