Hello all at mums net.

Here's one for you. Which I am sure everyone has been through this one but as a FTM haven't a clue.

So I have been EBF and my LO is 6 months this week. I have also started weaning.

In the last couple of days I have felt period cramps and tbh I have completely forgot that I haven't had one for ages!

And now I am thinking ah crap it might be coming back and I have this vision of my period coming back in the middle of the night and all of a sudden no milk to give to my LO and struggling with a bottle of formula and LO starving!!

Confused So I know everyone is individual but as it goes your period comes and your milk goes?

Xx

Nope! My periods had no effect on my supply! And they came back really early. Hopefully you will be fine!

Periods returning does not cause your supply to stop. Often, periods return once you have stopped bf or are only bf during the day/not often. But that doesn't mean that getting your period = no milk! So don't worry Smile

One thing I did find was that each of my dc has been a bit fussy feeding around the time my period is due, once periods have returned. the first few periods, each of them has all but turned up their nose at the taste, but this does settle down after a while.

it made (for me) for some pretty uncomfortable feeds for the first few periods too - more sensitive breasts, coupled with dc messing about a bit, and it was as sore as the early days of bf, ime.
