I've been diagnosed with PND. I haven't started any medication yet as locum doctor was unsure what I can take that is safe whilst I'm still BF my DD (10 months)

Is anyone BFing and on anti depressants? If so, what have you been prescribed?

TIA

I think the recommended one is Sertraline- there's some evidence that v v little passes into milk especially if you take your meds straight after a feed. There is a helpline re drugs and bf - maybe someone else can link. I've had PND twice and low dose Sertraline has been a lifeline for me and my girls. Bf first to 17 m and DD2 currently (11 m) and was on meds from 8 and 5 months respectively. Both happy healthy girls. Hope you get some support as well as the meds....

Actually I know there are some others that are regularly used - the poster above me mentioned one- I found Sertraline v good and v effective but it's a v personal thing what works. You could also access cognitive therapy through your GP which can be helpful....
Hope things get better soon for you.
