Stopped breast feeding one month ago and still no period

That really. Breast fed dd for 11 months and we would like to start trying for another baby but I've still not had my period so still haven't ovulated. Is this normal? Has anyone had similar?

No period doesn't mean no ovulation - thats why you can be caught unawares, and pregnant without realising it - you ovulate 2 weeks before your periods return. Are you sure your not pregnant?

Otherwise, its your body saying its not ready for another pregnancy quite yet, and much as you'd love an 20 mth age gap, your just going to have to wait a little bit longer.
