What were you early symptoms if mastitis?

Have started to stop breastfeeding and would like to be aware of what to look out for.

It comes on very suddenly - extreme tiredness and everything aches- a bit like 'flu. To give an example, I was once sitting at the swimming pool watching my eldest have a swimming lesson and was fine and then suddenly it was a huge effort to get him changed and home- cooking the meal was beyond me and DH did it.

Yy exoticfruits. I woke up with flu-like chills. And one very sore boob!

Yes, forgot to say- very sore boob.

The worst with me was the 'no warning'- one moment fine and the next I had it!
I only got it with DS2 and that was because he would be going full tilt, sounding like a milking machine, and then he would just stop dead and smile at me!

For me, it was an argument with my DH about whether we needed to put the heating on or open the windows! I was so flipping cold. It was only a few hours later when I caught a glance in the mirror that I noticed how red the underneath of my boob was and put two and two together.

Fever and shivers. Total exhaustion.
