Lindam microwave bottle steriliser bags

Has anyone used these? You put 2 bottles and teats etc in them and shove them in the microwave?

I need a way of sterilising the bottles etc when at Centerparcs and dont really want to lug my avent steam steriliser all the way there. Any other ideas? or is the Lindam one good?

I found the Lindam bags really handy - I kept some at my mums for doing my breastpump and occasional bottles or dummies. Just remember to put water in - my mum forgot to one day and set her microwave on fire!

I used them quite a bit - mostly breastfed but once they were weaned and not having so many bottles these were good for doing the odd one or two - and very handy on holidays

Yes, very useful for holidays or for leaving at mum's. Never had any problems with them. Just remember to mark each use on them.

I use a mothercare steriliser bottle when travelling, costs £3 and can be reused ad infinitum. However, I only give one bottle a day, so if you have to do a day's worth in advance, could work out expensive.

A friend simply puts a drop of water in the bottom of a bottle, puts it loosely together and microwaves for 90 seconds - so effectively doing the same as the mothercare type. Would assume this is as good, but perhaps other MN-ers could confirm.

HTH.

Yep I used them thought they were great - really handy, will be using them again if I need bottles. As others have said also useful to leave at homes you visit so 1 less piece of luggage to carry around.

How about simply boiling them in a pan?
By the way dd2 is now 11 weeks and haven't sterilised my breastpump or any bottles yet! Just use very hot water and air dry or dishwasher - I was inspired by the threads on MN!!Smile

I used my bags more than 20 times... but not sure if that is advisable or not!

jamiesam · 12/06/2006 22:10

I got on really well with Lindam - used them for sterilising breast pump in work microwave and never had a problem. Was a bit slack about limiting use to 20 times only, but probably not a problem if you're only using them for a week!

I've boiled at times, but n ever liked it. In hardwater areas the things get covered in what I suppose is limescale. It's only a tiny amount and wipes off easily, but I just don't like it. Whether or not you choose to sterilise (and no criticism implied at all) personally I would sterilise when away from home - you don't know how good hygiene, refrigeration etc are, and the last thing you want on holiday is an upset tummy.
