My PFB DD is 5 days old and we've been muddling through feeding ok. She'll take 2*10-12min feeds with a breather/ burp in between every 2-3 hours. Slightly longer at night between feeds. I have no problem with supply.

Tonight she took 3*12-14 mon feeds from leftie and is now in feed #2 on rightie. She was similar 4-6pm this afternoon but stopped after the 4th course. I'm shattered and wondering what's going on. I can't leave her to root/cry but am desperate to sleep and I'm terrified ill fall asleep feeding her Sad

Any advice or should I just suck it up?

Congratulations !!

This is all very normal. Lets her feed as much as she wants for now and it will even out but she needs to be fed as much as possible for now.

She will be building your supply up even if it feels like you have plenty.

You are doing a fab job !

Thanks! Her weight gain is good so I'm happy on that count, but sooooo tired. Will keep going, you've given me the lift I needed to know that its normal...Thanks

Remembering , sounds to me you are over-thinking this :)

You're timing the feeds for a start - impossible to do accurately and which gives meaningless information, anyway.

Her feeding frequency is normal for a newborn - it's much easier for you to work round it and get some TLC for yourself, ensuring that you learn to feed lying down so you can rest/doze, and try to put that timer away :)

Thanks for the advice and reassurance Smile
I have a lot of breast tissue and quite flat nipples so may be a while til I'm proficient enough to feed lying down but hopefully I'll get there! 3rd degree tear /stitches means I can't yet just scootch up in bed but again, hopefully I can in a wee while SmileSmile

Thanks again ThanksThanks
