Ds won't feed because of teething pain - help!

Ds2 is 14mo and ebf, usually 3-4 times in 24 hours. He's always fed really well however the last couple of days he's been teething really badly (swollen gums, drooling, stuffing hands in mouth so pretty sure it's teething) and he's completely off his solids but won't bf properly either. He has 6 teeth at top and 2 on bottom.

He's obviously hungry, goes eagerly to latch on and then screams in pain and throws his head back. Sad I'm sitting here expressing to see if he'll take some in a cup but tbh even trying to get him to take calpol/nurofen is a battle at the moment as he doesn't want anything other than his thumb/cuddly toy in his mouth. It's the same with food - he goes eagerly for it and then starts screaming and pulls it out of his mouth. I don't remember ds1 being like this and I bf him til he was 18mths.

Any suggestions to help my poor hungry exhausted (not sleeping with the pain/heat/hunger) boy?

Thank you!

Poor little thing, and poor you. Try offering cold foods from the fridge, e.g. Yogurt, cucumber, ice cream etc and see how the goes. Should hopefully soothe things and reassure you that at least something is going in. If DS is a good healthy weight then a few days of not eating much won't hurt so try not to worry. My DD had about a week like this, I felt bad initially for giving her loads of yogurt but it was about all she could manage and I would rather she had something than nothing. Hope things improve quickly for you both.
