My little boy is 17 weeks old. He's pretty content & looks well covered... When i got him weighed a couple of weeks ago the HV was slightly concerned that he'd slipped off his line. I didn't worry too much , but over the last 2/3 weeks he stopped pooing daily & has started to poo every 3 days, but yesterday was day 3 & he didn't poo... Now I'm beginning to wonder if the 2 are connected & am starting to worry about him Sad

I have been low carbing for about 2 months, but making up for lack of carbs with loads of veggies/ salads etc. Is it my fault? Should I be worried?

Must proof read titles before posting!.... pooing not posing! He is quite the poser!!

Don't worry unless he's visibly in pain. It's common, as I understand it - breast milk gets used up almost wholly, so there is little in terms of waste product.

My DS1 once went 10 days. I was panicking like hell. And when he finally went it was epic, just to warn you!

Thank You Mimsy. That's reassuring to read!

The 3 daily poos were monstrous enough, so I dread to think what the next one will be like! Shock

DD started doing similar at about 4.5m... very suddenly too! The poonamis were epic. Grin Is normal so don't worry (other than about where the next explosion will happen!)

Penguins, this is 100 per cent normal and not a sign of a baby not getting sufficient. 'Slipping off the line' is also not a sign of the baby not getting sufficient and boo to your HV for even allowing you to think it is an issue.

Lo-carb diet for you makes ZERO difference.

He sounds fine.

IBlameThePenguins · 22/07/2013 11:06

Ahh . Thank you so much for the reassurance, especially with regards to the low carbing!

I was not remotely worried about his weight... only popped him in because i was passing. The HV who weighed him beckoned the other one over & discussed it with her first. I did ask if the graph was standardised for BF babies!

Thanks again! Grin

The charts are all based on data from bf babies now, penguins. In any case, there is not much difference between bf and ff until babies are 5-6 mths old.

My DS is 9 weeks and about a week and half ago also started pooing every 3 days, and has fluffed an awful lot every day since birth! Grin
