Hi.

My DD is 15 weeks old and she is eating a lot. She has 6oz each feed every 2 1/2 to 3 hours whether it's breast, pumped or formula as she's had a mix since 1 week old.

She wont wait an extra hour and if she does, she'll just take the same amount but want refeeding in an hour instead.

I know she can't really be weaned yet and I don't want her to yet but is there any type of milk I can give her or juice etc that would saturate her thirst?

She used to drink every 5 hours about the same amount up until a week or so ago.

I don't know what would be best to do. I looked up on website and can't stand follow on milk til 6 months, so not sure what is best to do as leaving it longer doesn't make much difference and she'll just want refeeding sooner.

Any ideas?
Thanks :)

It's the famous four month growth spurt.

The best thing to do is keep feeding her what you are I'm afraid.

In this hot weather (assuming you are in the UK) I'm not surprised your dd is feeding more as its her only way of quenching her thirst. Don't give her juice - at most you could try cooled boiled water if you really think she can't be hungry.

5 hours is a long time between feeds at 15 weeks - 2 1/2 to 3 hours sounds completely normal to me I'm afraid. Would you go 5hrs in this heat without any drink?

The NHS recommend feeding on demand, so if she's demanding more milk then I would go with it and give it to her.
