Hands Free bottle feeding - what are your views?

Hi everyone I'm a complete newbie so please bare with me. This is my first post and first baby and it feels like there's a million decisions to make! Confused

One that I'm really stumped with is the idea of the hands free baby feeding system from Podee.

It looks like a great idea and says it helps with colic and winding etc. I have a friend of a friend who swears by them but there really isn't much in the way of reviews online, not even on Which?

As far as I know I'm not having a multiple pregnancy and I don't even know what I'm doing about breast feed, bottle feed, breast milk in bottle as I'm only 9 weeks!! Blush I'm a Virgo and a nutter for research so I'd really like to know people's opinions on this so what do you all think?

If you have twins or more then fine but I have never had any problems with dropping bottles and if you give it to a baby in a buggy what's to stop them dropping it anyway. Don't bother wasting your money

Horrible and unhygienic - how do you keep the tube clean?

Young babies need to be held when they are being fed.

I can see the use for multiples but other than that its a no from me!! Bottle time cuddles are lovely!! Grin

Unless you have multiples I can't see this is a good idea at all. In fact every fibre of my being screams nooooo! Babies need to be held when fed.

I can't remember dropped bottles every being an issue.

Iirc this was on dragons den and was laughed out.

Enjoy your lovely new baby in a few months time OP.

Once you get your hands on that lovely newborn squishiness you may wonder why anyone would ever not want to get a really good cuddle in at feeding time Grin

Personally I Bf'd, but expressed as well so DH could also get his cuddles in.

Damn, getting wombtwang now...

I agree, they have they have created a solution for a non-issue.

Write a list of everything you want for a baby, delete 90%. What your left with is what your DC needs, the rest will be useless/unused/not liked.

Anything else that crops up and you need can be delivered within a few days.

Babies like being held, mine would never like this or anything else that involves being more than 2cm away from me.

Like others have said. For multiples yes but not for just one baby. One thing that really grates on me is when i see a baby in a car seat or pram with a bottle propped in its mouth being held there with a blanket or something. Pick your baby up fgs and feed them.

no, I wouldn't have wanted to have done this. One of the joys of bottle feeding my children was being able to hold them and look at them while they fed.

Hi Everyone, Thank you all for your input you've made some great points that I hadn't really thought about. All in all I think I'll intend to go down the traditional route of BF and expressing so DP can get in on the hugs. Now to go on the hunt for a good breast pump, steriliser and bottles Confused

Your DP can get plenty of cuddles without feeding the baby. My DH did with both of ours who were BF and no bottles.

redhead I think the bottle feeding = ear infection is something to do with pressure building up in the ears when sucking from bottle.

I can understand maybe a baby's ears popping from sucking a bit too ferociously but I have never heard of an infection from that.

Don't build up the idea of expressing too big in your head - I never managed it to any extent (by hand or machine.. just didn't produce any that way), and fed DS until he was 2.5 - DP cuddled DS anyway, no feeding excuses needed grin

OP, please trust me, there is nothing more satisfying than holding your baby close and feeding them whether you choose breast or formula.

You won't want to use this kind of contraption.
