Hello all.

Im currently mix feeding ds at the moment. He has forumula milk in the day and breast milk in the night / morning. I am hoping to wean him off the breast completely over the next few weeks but I'm struggling to get my head round how to make the night time feeds in the middle of the night.

Please can you share how you all do this? This thread has probably been written hundreds of times but struggling to find one!

Thanks in advance

The advice on how to make up bottles is here, not sure if you can store and warm up the bottles, hopefully someone will be along soon.

As you probably know already, it really not recommended to make up the formula with water under 70c as you need to kill of the bacteria in the formula.

If I have to make a bottle up fast I have a sterilised bottle/container with cooled boiled water in the fridge ready at all times. I have 2 bottles ready on the side. I make 5oz at a time. I measure 3oz of the cool water from the fridge in one bottle. I put 2 oz of boiling water from the kettle in the other bottle. I add an oz of the cool water to the hot water to get it to 70 degrees, add the 5 scoops of formula powder, shake well to nuke the bugs and then add the rest of the cold water, which makes it perfect feeding temp. Takes about a minute after the kettle is boiled. I've also heard of people taking a flask of boiling water upstairs and a premeasured pot of powder to add, and doing the same routine at bedside. Other option is a carton of ready to feed, but if you are doing several night feeds every night it can work out quite pricey and you still have to warm it up which can take longer than making it fresh.
