Help! I'm pregnant and DD (15months) constantly wants to feed now!

And I mean constantly! She was trying to feed all nightlong last night and she's pulling at my top constantly. We were down to a couple of feeds a day and maybe three at night but now, all she seems to want is boob.

  1. Could it have something to do with teething?
  2. Is it because I'm pregnant? If so, how long will this last? I wanted to feed her til she's 2, by which point new baby will hopefully be here. But honestly, I'm only 6 weeks gone now, my nipples are sore from her frantic feeding and I got very little sleep last night. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to take it.

Has anyone been in the same situation?

I'm about 11 weeks now and my nipples hurt at first but it's passed now although that might be because my supply dropped very quickly and my 16 month DD was very upset about it so I had to start limiting her feeds as it was upsetting her not being able to get as much milk as she had done previously and she did want to try more. Now she's has about 2 per day before nap and bed and then again if she wants to feed during the night.

Do you think my supply could have already dropped and that's why she's trying to feed like a maniac?

No advice sorry but I'm wondering the same thing. I'm 12 weeks and Ds boob obsessed. Not too bad in the daytime but constantly suckling in the evening and nighttime. Not fun!

I know that this thread is a few days old, but was wondering the same thing. I am 5 weeks pg and ds is 20 mo. He upped his feeds before I knew I was pregnant, but that was easily explained by a nasty molar coming out and a big cold. Now that these 2 things have passed, he still is boob obsessed (although he has always preferred milk to food) even though he also seems to be eating more solids...

Have your dc gone back to their "normal" patterns or still feeding a lot?

I was bfing my 20mo when I got pg with DD (just 20 days old now) and although it seemed fine for about 6 weeks, it became really difficult for us. However, I read a great book called Adventures in Tandem Nursing and experiences differ wildly. My DS had been down to very few feeds, so supply was quite low anyway and just crashed during pg. His anxiety about that and my increasing 'agitation' - a term from the book - where I felt increasingly horrified by bfing meant that we limped to an unhappy end of bfing by the time I was 6mo pg. Happily, we are now re-established, all agitation gone, and it's really brilliant having a toddler help establish your supply, DD didn't lose any birth weight! Really recommend the book, though, answers every question but ultimately there are no hard and fast rules as many women seem to carry on without blinking whereas others have patchy phases.
