Madly itchy hands and feet when breastfeeding, PLEASE HELP!

Daughter born yesterday morning. Whenever I breastfeed her I am getting incredibly itchy hands and feet. Like a massive allergic reaction. Really itchy, driving me crazy, stopping me sleeping in the one hour bits I can! I didn't have obstetric cholestasis so I don't think it can be that unless it can come on after delivery?
Please has anyone had this, can you help?
I have a three year old son and never had this problem breastfeeding him which I did for six months.
Please, please help!

No idea but sounds horrible, can yo speak to a breatfeeding councillor or doctor or something?

Oh dear, talk to consultant?

Are you taking codeine? I was insanely itchy, and noticed much more when Breastfeeding because you're still and not distracted. It turns out that codeine is an opiate, which can cause quite severe itching.

Are you still on the ward? If you are taking codeine you could ask your midwife or consultant about it?

Not taking anything, was a homebirth so am at home but will see a midwife later today. Really odd.

I hope your midwife is of help, that link does look scary so if you have no suggestions from her then do call your doctor or a breastfeeding helpline - I'm sure it's probably fine but if I was you I'd just want to put my mind at rest and also know what it could be. Hope it stops soon.
