Does the calories burning come from producing the milk or feeding?

My milk should come in during the next 24 hours but its looking quite likely that ill have to express even for a couple of days. Does the extra hunger you get from breastfeeding come from producing milk or the feeding itself? Am just wondering if the fact I'm starving is coming from expressing the colostrum and the impending breast milk being produced or just me being a pig lol

It comes from producing the milk. Make sure you eat well and importantly drink lots of water

You're probably hungry as labour expends lots of energy!

It's common for women to feel hungry and thirsty in the early days of bf.

It's good to follow those bodily cues and just eat and drink as you wish :)

It won't make any difference to your milk, either quantity or quality.
