Clothes for breast feeding in the summer...

Today's lovely weather has made me think about what I am going to wear for breast feeding in the summer whilst avoiding overexposure! Up to now I have been doing the two layers of clothing thing, but that is going to be boiling when it heats up properly.
What does everyone generally do? Put up with the extra heat? Wear normal summer clothes and use an extra big scarf? Any other ingenious ideas?
Also a bit sad that not going to wear nice summer dresses...just can't figure out how to make the work...

Linen trousers, vest tops and linen shirts or tunic tops with buttons down the front. Worked for me last year and hopefully this one too!

Uniqlo have cool underwear. I think it's new but it's called airtrim and they are like their heattech thermals (except in Reverse!). The vests are uber stretchy and you don't feel like you're wearing an additional layer. I wear under loose cotton blouses/tshirts and felt pretty comfy today. They are also really long so you can tuck into your knickers to prevent flashing of belly.

I have nursing bras where the underlayer bit actually goes around the boob, so only the nipple and a bit of breast around it is exposed when I pull the cup down - these

So I can wear strappy tops or dresses and just pull the shoulder and one side of the bodice down, and I don't feel too exposed. You could always tuck a muslin into the shoulder strap of your bra.

But anything I wear still has to either have a button front or be easily pulled down (without wrecking it!)

Wrap dresses can also be useful, if your bust is of a size which doesn't mean you display huge amounts of cleavage! personal taste obviously

I fed dd1 in the summer of 2006 when it was 25-30 every day for months, my stock clothing was a vest top with the clips to undo and either an unbuttoned linen shirt over the top like a cardi or a muslin tucked under the bra strap to cover the top part of boob and her head.

Boob brand nursing vest tops and t-shirts. WEP.

This is where I found actual breastfeeding tops usefull means you can feed without showing tummy. Tbh I was more concious of showing my tummy than my breast, but mine are on the smaller side so not as obvious iyswim. Also the drop clip vests are usefull for summer mothercare do some nice longline ones.

Agree about the nursing tops, I found them very useful when it was hot in France last year. H&M do good ones, as do jojo Maman bebe. Best nursing vests for me have been the Emma Jane ones.

Other than that, stretchy tops, shirt dresses, anything with a wrap/ button / loose front. And a muslin to pop into your bra strap!

Vests with a lot of elastane/lycra in them (Primark ones seem to be the best in the high street, oddly!) and a thin shirt/tunic/scarf over the top.

Oh, and now DD is 13m and my supply seems to be iron-clad, I'm back in underwired bras - it helps with the stickiness issue!

VikingLady I tried to like your post but forgot I wasn't on FB. I'd love an underwired nursing bra but can't get them in my size.

I have to choose between a saggy mono-boob or DS wailing because he's been told he can't feed because mummy's got the 'wrong' bra on.

Baroness You can get nursing clips on ebay to alter a normal bra! Though I just wear a plunge and drop a strap off my shoulder

I haven't found food inside my bra for weeks! Joy!

Like you I haven't bf in the summer yet, but I generally like skirts/shorts/jeans with a loose tshirt-style top, the closest thing to my previous style, and quite easy to stay comfy and covered.

I am not bothered about a bit of stomach showing, but my boobs are big(ish) (E) and I don't like the pull down approach.

I have an underwired nursing bra and I can't wear anything else now. So sorry they don't do them in enough sizes!!
