Breastfeeding and periods.... (this topic comes up a bit eh?)

Last month I had my first af since my DS (9 months) was born. It was exactly 28 days after I had a 'phantom' period - one with all the symptoms (tummy cramps, back pain) but no bleeding. So anyway, this month I expected it to be roughly 28 days. I've been feeling like it's about to start for a week now and it's 2 days late. I've taken a pregnancy test and it's negative. We're letting nature take it's course with conception of our next but I think that we missed the fertile time. Unless of course I have ovulated very alte at day 21 and I am pg.

But anyway, I was thinking that DS had been nursing a bit more again. Can this affect my cycle length? Or do your periods remain unaffected by breastfeeding once they return.

Any thoughts appreciated. I hate feeling like I'm about to come on and nothing is happening!

Suzi2 I was just wondering the same thing myself - whether once you get your periods back that's it, or whether they may stop again if you start feeding more. I had my first af just over a month ago when ds was 12mths, and I have been feeling very pre-menstrual for the last week but no sign of anything yet! I hate that feeling too.

increasing bf can disrupt ovulation again, and quite common to be irregular while bf.
My DS2 is 15mths and my af still not back at all!
