My 8 month old son won't leave me alone. He has lost his food appetite and wants to be permanantly latched on to me instead. He just cries all the time and
grabs at my clothes.

This councideds with him deciding that he doesn't like a dummy any more. He keeps chewing the dummy then throwing it down and crying for me instead. last night he wanted to sleep with my nipple just in his mouth. Not actually feeding.

Is he teething? There's no sign of any teeth.

He could be teething or it could be a growth spurt. Or he could be coming down with a bug. If it was me I'd just let him feed as much as he wants to. Keep an eye on his temperature. If you think it's teething pain perhaps a little calpol would help. Have you tried bonjela gel? I used to smear it onto a teether but you could try it on his soother. Whatever it is it will probably pass in a few days. Hope he's himself again soon.

Oh, and if he wants to sleep with your nipple have you been doing it lying down in bed? My DS was fond of this and nursing lying down made it much easier for everyone.

Thanks mamacici we do nurse lying down, we co sleep anyway, he was much more disturbed last night and screamed everytime I tried the dummy instead.

I will try the bonjela and watch his temp too. Good advice.
