11 wo suddenly taking less formula is it the gaviscon ?

Hi we were using cow and gate anti - reflux but switches to ordinary cow and gate and gaviscon as lo was v windy and uncomfortable with antireflux. He has gone from taking 6 oz per bottle to 4 at the most sometimes as little as 2 oz at night ! This has been gradual since switching - he seems happy between feeds not sure if is gaviscon or just end of a growth spurt ?

Anyone experienced similar ?

Have you changed teat size? Gaviscon makes milk thick....

The same happened with my baby on Gaviscon - although he did get VERY constipated (picture me holding the baby over the loo while he screamed a poo out, was awful, he was in so much pain), and once he stopped the Gaviscon his intake went back up.

How much he is having altogether in a 24 hour period?

Thanks using variflow teats now but agree re constipation poos v small and hard looking - think will have to stop gaviscon and try something else.

Cow and Gate Carobel is a similar product which doesn't constipate. We've had great success with it for DS. DD was on Gaviscon and we used to have to add an extra ounce of water to each bottle to stop the constipation.
