Adding formula at 6+ months - is follow-on milk necessary

Hi all,

My DS is about to turn 6 months and up until now has been EBF. We're going to hopefully switch to mixed feeding (he will already take expressed milk from a cup or spoon). Am I supposed to give him "follow-on" milk or is that all a con, and should I be just giving him Stage 1 milk? Will follow-on just upset his tummy?
Thanks!

Follow on was develped to get round advertising restrictions. It is high in iron, and while not harmful, some babies do become constipated on it. There is no benefit in follow on and normal infant formula is just fine for babies of this age :)
