Tips for getting 13wk old EBF DS to take a bottle?

We're tried two or three times now to introduce a bottle to DS. He takes it into his mouth and sort of makes a sucking motion but ultimately just pushes it out with his tongue and doesn't seem to have actually ingested any of the milk. Same with a dummy.

Any suggestions for how to teach him to suck the way he needs to in order to take the bottle? Love, love, love him but I'd really like to be able to get away occasionally for a few hours at the weekends but can't as long as he still needs me close by.

Google Bottle feeding for breastfed babies NCT for a pdf of a factsheet full of ideas :)

Still not having much luck. Have tried giving DS the bottle myself, having DH give it, softening teat with warm water ... Any other suggestions? DS is now 15wks.

Wondering if we'll end up skipping bottles and going straight to cups. Maybe a doidy cup after he hits 4 months in a couple of weeks?

Have you tried different types? I use medela calma - they latch onto it like a breast. I also suck some milk into the teat so she knows what it's for. It also is more boob like as they need to suck to get anything, it doesn't drip like others.

Two tips:

Give warm milk not cold

Wait til he's really hungry then leave your dh with bottle while you go out for a walk. If baby thinks boob milk is an option he won't take bottle.

Or just wait til he's 6 months and wean him onto cup.

We've tried warm milk in green baby and avent bottles. He did take about 10ml from the avent once but hasn't repeated it. I have a medela I could try next. DH is only able to give bottles at the weekend, so we're only managing to try a couple times a week. No luck with a dummy either.
