Avoid anything containing aspirin or decongestants, like Lemsip.

The pharmacist I spoke to when I was in the same situation was reluctant to sell me anything that 'dried' me up - I think because she believed there was a connection with reduced supply. I don't know what science there is behind this though. Given that most cough and cold medicines don't really help (or at least they don't help me!) Paracetemol (tablet or soluble) is always good, along with honey-based hot drinks.

Hope you feel better soon - I had cold after cold when I was bf... A multivitamin may (longer term) make recovery easier...

I'm on paracetamol and non-milky hot drinks (honey and lemon, hot blackcurrant). Vicks on the feet overnight too. Vicks and Olbas Oil are my saviours...

Decongestants have been linked to serious and sudden decreases in supply. The topical kind that you spray up your nose is OK though.

BFN have a good info sheet here.

Thanks everyone Smile I've had a couple of colds which result in my 8 week old catching them too and it breaks my heart him snuffling away. Now I know what to avoid and will also pick up a multi vitamin xx

If you have a clever phone, there's an app called lactmed which is a database off all drugs and the effects on bfing.
