Your experiences please: breastfeeding and newly pregnant?

My 16mo son has started to become really difficult to settle to sleep in this past week. He appears to be happily taking milk in advance, but he takes ages to fall asleep, wakes up a lot during the night, becomes hard to settle again...

There are other things that might be at play here - teething, a recent tummy bug (him), but here's my question:

Has anyone had similar experiences in early pregnancy when breastfeeding? Do you know what might be happening? I've tried Googling but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack...

Thanks. (oh by the way - any suggestions, please?)

My DS was such an awful sleeper that it would have been hard to tell! It might be worth talking to your local La Leche League leader, or read adventures in tandem nursing, the lll leader might be able to loan you a copy, or just hang around here for some more replies Smile

As for the wakings, have you read thisor this?

I became pregnant with my second when my daughter was about 18 months old. I feel it really changed our breastfeeding relationship somehow. I think my supply plummeted and she was frustrated. Perhaps my nipples were more sensitive as well. I came to loathe breastfeeding and was pleased when she finally quit as she turned 2. Anyway, I remember being convinced that by 9 weeks pregnant I had no milk left at all, seriously I couldn't get a drop out, but after that she would 'dry nurse' anyway, just at night, for about 5 months. It wasn't that long ago but I really can't remember it very well!!!
