Breastfeeding foster child

Hello!

I'm still breastfeeding 20mo DD. I'm looking into fostering and I'm told I'd probably end up with babies due to my DD's age. Would I have to bottle feed? I don't mind if this is a yes, just wondered though if my supply would adapt to a younger baby....

It sounds great that you're looking into fostering. I've helped women who've bf adopted and surrogate babies but am not sure about legal situation wrt fostering (a lot of decisions still need some parental consent i think). Some info which may help www.lalecheleague.org/nb/nbadoptive.html
Good luck!

I don't know for sure but I would imagine that it wouldn't be allowed. The very nature of foster care means its not guaranteed how long you will have that child and it wouldn't be fair to start and stop.

I also think it is crossing the line of what you are there for too. I don't think any parent will consent to their child being breastfed by a foster parent.

I'd imagined that would be the response. Couldn't decide for sure though so thank you for the input. In all honesty, I'd be relieved to stop!
