Nuk teats size 2 (6m+) - where can I get them? And other questions...

My two nearest Boots seem to have wound down Nuk stocks and nowhere else in my town sold them anyway, so I'm stuck - anyone know of other stockists?

Leads me to ask something else I'm confused about - is it recommended that we wean DD off her bedtime bottle at a year old, or can she still have it as she's supposed to have her teeth brushed afterwards? I say "supposed to" as she has no teeth yet, so we just let her play with a toothbrush/paste now and then. The rest of the time she is bf so that isn't an issue, just the bedtime milk (which is formula).

Asda have a good supply and also Superdrug sell lots of NUK stuff. Good luck

Also my son is 3 years old and still has a cupof milk before bed, after cleaning his teeth and dentist says his teeth are fine. baby will let you know when they dont want milk before bed time, its more of a comfort thing so why upset them unnecessarily?

Thanks, they are two places I haven't got to yet, so fingers crossed! I imagine she will want her bedtime milk for a long time to come (hell, I still have a glass often enough!), just not sure of the best method - bottle, beaker with spout etc. She's only 10m still, so early days but the lack of Nuk teats around got us thinking about when we might move away from the bottle.

Nuk on \link{http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/baby_and_child_care-666214IN/nuk-801630FE/bottles_and_teats-s-51237BO\pharmacy2u}. Recommend them :)

Had a look at this. Have NUK changed their bottles ? With DS1 they were standard neck bottles (not wide neck) which I used (after investing in every type and size of bottle to wean her off BF) so I hoped to use these again. However these links look like they changed their size. Is that right ?

redstarfalling · 23/04/2006 20:04

Suggy We really struggled to get ds to take a bottle in the end he would only take Nuk latex teats which we could only get in narrow neck size they do wide neck as well now and the wide necks appear more popular so are more freely available. I wanted to use wide ones as they look nicer but could only find latex Nuk in narrow neck. they are a pain to mix formula in so we use dd's avents now ( and we have many that are redundant now Smile ) with a sealing cap. You can also get Nuk stuff at Mothercare World ( don't know about smaller branches of Mothercare )

Just wondered, have you asked your local chemist to order some teats for you. DS2 had problems sucking & could only suck from the same teats used in SCBU. Our local chemist was more than happy to order them in. Apparently they all come from the same supplier!

Hi stapo, no luck so far, have asked Superdrug and local chemist and neither can (or will?!) order them in. Next hope is Asda, and failing that, will try the online ordering route. It's annoying that Superdrug sell the bottles but not the size 2 teats (my 2 local branches, anyway)

Like Stapo says, your chemist will order stuff like this for you, ours is tiny, but will order stuff if you ask and only takes a day or two.

I would leave the bedtime bottle if she seems to want it for comfort. They usually give it up themselves when they are ready.

pollydoodle · 30/04/2006 00:24

I've always found that \link{http://www.baby-supplies.co.uk\baby-supplies.co.uk} send them through the post and it only takes a couple of days. Plus postage is pretty reasonable if you only need something small, they don't have a 'one price for all' p&p policy which can be really frustrating if you only want one or two things.

Occasionally they run out of stock so things don't show up on their web site but when I needed some silicone nuk teats in a hurry I decided I would just have to order latex instead. I stuck a note on the bottom asking why there weren't any silicone ones available in that size (they had every other) and I got a call the next day to say that they know their website can be a bit funny about not showing stuff that was out of stock, but that they now had them in stock and you did I want to change my order. Which I did, which was very nice of them. You can also ring them up and order over the phone if you want to I think, nice to have that as a back-up option!

good luck...

Thanks Peaches, I will leave the bedtime bottle.

Thanks for the info on the website pollydoodle - I'll be using it if I can't get one in the shops soon!
