Hi ladies
I am currently ebf ds3 who is 4 months i am pretty new to bf as with ds1 i tried but gave up after a week as it was just not working (later discovered at 9 months this was due to severe tongue tie) ds2 managed for 5/6 weeks but found the constant feeding and an 18month old to contend with too much, anyhow this time around thoroughly enjoying it!

But..... Last week my left breast started to become painful and i realised i had a very large hard lump, had this before just massaged it out whilst feeding over a period of a few days and it eased off however now the lump is gone but my nipple is soo sore (not visibly though) it feels like its burning and i have a white spot on it?!

Thought id ask here before i go and harrass my gp (Again!)

Thanks! :0)

I have found I get very sore nipples with mastitis as possibly damaged nipple could let in the infection ... Or burning could be thrush esp if unicorn antibiotics for the doctor last week but this would usually affect both nipples as is easily transferred by baby.

I always get this after/ alongside blocked ducts. think it is due to bad positioning. It seems together better if I concentrate on latch right and use Lansinoh.

I had this, started in the evening and gradually got worse the next day, hot flannels and massaging helped, over night though the pain concentrated in my nipple and a weird blood blister/spot formed right in the middle and was agony. I gritted my teeth and popped it, cleaned it and applied lansinoh and by the end of the day I was ok again.

You've got a milk blister - warm compress, then baby on to feed. Pop it with a sterile needle if feeding doesn't work, squeeze the gunk out, then lansinoh on top to keep it moist and stop it scabbing over
