Is it possible to have 4 blebs on one nipple? Also mastitis.

I am in a bit of a pickle, and I will get to the doctors when they open again on Monday. I am at my parents- facing a six hour car journey back home today.

I think I might have 4 blebs on my left nipple. They only appear in a hot shower. After feeding, my nipple is completely blanched. It has been fairly painful, but I've been ignoring it. Now I've woken up with a red patch on my breast under my nipple, the telltale mark of mastitis :(

Writing this, I'm thinking I need to speak to a doctor before I set off don't I ?

Poor you! Don't worry, it can be managed but it can make you feel rotten.

If you're worried I would call the dr, it may just be necessary to have a phone consultation and then see your own go tomorrow.

You may not need to take antibiotics, important thing is to carry on draining your breast milk, by hand or baby. Rotate baby round in different positions on boob to aid drainage.

Check your nursing bra isn't too tight and that baby is latching on properly.

I found Having a hot bath and milking my boobs meant t was easier fr milk to come out and unplug the duct....., a bit of chessey straw looking thing came put! Ugh!

Also helped to put hot shower head on the affected area and to try and milk it out.

Check your temp and for feeling of nausea, rigours, sweats etc.

Some people pick at the blobs but this has to be done in sterile conditions.....

Kellymom has a good bit on mastitis and plugged ducts
