Mooshy,
I breast-fed while on citalopram. I didn't have any problems with my milk supply at all, in fact I breast-fed for 8 months. With regard to your baby, my GP told me that while caution is advised, citalopram is not actually contra-indicated while bf-ing. She explained that what this means is that you should watch your baby closely for signs of extreme drowsiness/upset stomach etc. My son was absolutely fine.

Likewise the odd glass of wine is no problem at all. Hope you feel better soon.

Btw, I don't know if a previously unknown side effect is posting the same thing four times ! When I logged on I thought I was seeing quadruple!

i'm bfeeding and taking citalopram - not having any effects on supply that i've noticed,,, first pill info leaflet said 'As with all antiD's do not take alcohol' but second leaflet (different manufacturer) said ' do not drink excess alcohol'. I've taken that to mean an occasional mood-lifting glass of wine is fine. HTH.

Bluebear, thanks for advice.Saw your other thread re ebm and feeding.I cup fed my babies from birth and while im not suggesting everyone goes and follows suit it worked for me.I work on a maternity unit where as part of our bf policy no teats can be given to bf babies. This is hard when often we have poorly mums and very hungry babes !So i have had lots of practice feeding newborns ebm from sterile medicine tots. Have you thought about contacting the bf support groups-they have some great advice and all the latest on new teats and gadgets ect. Also you could try one of those beakers from 3 months-if you buy a good one they are ace.The one i bought this time around my ds had from 8 weeks from my dh.I made sure my dh gave it when i wasnt anywhere near. That way my ds only associated the bf with me, and anything else from others !You`d be amazed how an 8 week old gets the hang of a cup/beaker when boobies are unavailable and warm ebm is on offer from eleswhere.Good luck. And thanks again for your comments.
